Hadn't been in here in 20 years. Returned recently to find the service not a patch on what it used to be - that seems to be common throughout the Scottish Borders. Clearly the definition of public library has changed radically.Happy to award 5 points though because I obtained the information I needed and feel the need to counterbalance poor reviews from people who seem to think that a library should be rated only for its free computers/wifi and recharging their phones.
Best described as quaint. Free wifi but only works in certain spots. One power socket on top floor where the wifi actually works.
Lovely bright, airy building. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good selection of local history reference books here.
Great library - evocative of what old libraries used to be all about - not the noisy hell-hole most of them have become ;) Good selection of books too from what I have seen so far. Staff are perfectly friendly and helpful and the whole place has a nice atmosphere - love the old-fashionedness of it all - the building in particular. Cannot imagine why someone would give one star.
Beautiful building, great books, helpful staff. Previous reviewer must have gone in on an off day! One of the few remaining libraries in the borders to have real librarians who know their stuff!
